Game Launch Alert: Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) & Mass Effect (Xbox 360)

November 20th, 2007 spencer Posted in NDS, PS3, Video Games, Wii, Xbox360 6 Comments »

Rock BandFrom the makers of the original Guitar Hero comes Rock Band, another music based game including not only guitars, but a microphone and drum set!  There are many great things to note about this new game, but in my mind, one of the cooler differences between this game and Guitar Hero is the new 4 player simultaneous band play.  Upon creating your band, every member can control a different part of the action.  There’s the lead guitar, base guitar, drummer, and singer.  Guitar Hero Drum SetThe drum setis pretty sweet also as it has 4 separate drums that you can hit and not just one.  Rock Band promises to be an incredibly fun game for all of your friends.  The only problem is figuring out who’s going to be who in your new band.

Mass EffectMass Effectis the brand new Xbox 360 exclusive space RPG game.  What has reviewers raving about this game is the nontraditional amount of free range a player has in their choices and paths in the storyline.  There was supposedly an unprecedented one million lines recorded to handle the amount of choices one can make!  This will ultimately mean a far amount of re-playability as players can play the game multiple times and choose different paths to unlock different parts of the story!  When combined with detailed graphics (and a lesbian love scene which caused the game to be banned in Madagascar and Singapore), Mass Effect is already being tagged as Bio Ware, the King of RPGs on the West Coast’s, best RPG game yet.

Other games to note releasing today include:
Soul Calibur Legends (Wii)
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (NDS)

Game Launch Alert Quadruple Feature!

November 14th, 2007 spencer Posted in PS2, PS3, Video Games, Wii 1 Comment »

Featuring:

Assassins Creed
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3
WWE Smackdown! vs Raw 2008

A quadruple feature today with the launch of 4 brand new video games! Can you tell that Christmas is around the corner?

Assassins CreedFirst off, the much anticipated Assassins Creed for the Xbox 360 and PS3 follows the story of Altair, an elite assassin in the Holy Lands of the 12th century and his many hits on various targets. One of the shining points of this game is the depth and breadth of the cities and environment. The landscape is large and entirely explorable and many of the strangers have their own unique personalities that may help or deter you on your missions. Inspired by true events and characters, Assassins Creed is a mix between action, stealth, and strategy and might just end up being one of the top games of the year.

Resident Evil: Umbrella ChroniclesResident Evil is back with a bang, quite literally. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is the first in the series to be in 1st person view (not counting the horrific Resident Evil: Dead Aim). In this one, veteran players get to relive all of their favorite scenes and locations from the earlier games in the series, but newbies can get caught up in the series really quickly as it takes you through the events of at least 4 of the games. Using the newly created Wii Zapper players will need to shoot their way past hordes of the undead. Hopefully, this can be the first Resident Evil game not to emphasize ammo retention…

DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 - WiiDragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for the PS2 and Wii is a dream come true for any DBZ fan out there. Taking you through the entire published series (Dragonball, Dragaonball Z, and Dragonball GT), this game boasts a whopping 150 playable characters! Additional upgrades to the game since its predecessor include online play (Wii only) which will allow you to go Super Saiyan on your friends or complete strangers.

WWE 2008The final game being released in today’s explosion of games is WWE Smackdown! vs Raw 2008, which allows you to pit your favorite wrestlers against each other in a totally non staged fight! What’s great for fans out there is that this game is being released on virtually every console - Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii, NDS, and PSP! Obviously the game experience will be very different on the Wii and NDS, but that still doesn’t mean you can’t jump off the ropes or bash your opponent with a steel chair!
