Valentine’s Day is coming. If you were not able to get reservations at a nice restaurant or do not want to wait in long line for a seat, why not have a nice romantic dinner at home and watch one of these recommended DVD’s.
An Affair to Remember (1957): One of the greatest love stories of all time staring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. Based on a remake of the 1939 film Love Affair, this movie still moves the heats of anyone who watches it.
Sleepless In Seattle (1993): A comedic modern day version of An Affair to Remember staring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Sleepless In Seattle not only uses the theme song and clips from An Affair to Remember, but also retains the same romantic elements that made An Affair to Remember a hit.
Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (2006): An Tim Burton’s off beat company about a dead corpse and a live human falling in love starring the voices of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Loosely based on a 19th century Russian-Jewish folktale, this story examines whether people (dead or alive) can find eternal love and happiness.
When Harry Met Sally…(1989): A Rob Reiner film staring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan answers the questions of can men and women really be just friends? When Harry Met Sally… follows the relationship between two college collegaues and was the first to introduce concepts such as “high maintenance” girl friends and the “transitional person.”
PS: Yes, I am a Meg Ryan fan if you are wondering why there are 2 Meg Ryan movies on this list!
